The big wind followed by the big wet PDF Print E-mail

Wellingtons winter weather of discontent continued this week, with strong northwesterly winds pushing heavy rainfall across the region in the last 48 hours.

A record high wind gust of 102 km/h was recorded on the 14th of November and this was followed by a deluge of 51mm on the 18th November, and 36mm on the day previous. This again lead to slips throughout the region and road closures due to flooding, particularly around low lying areas near the Hutt River.
